Lower Secondary Programme
Continuing from our strong Primary Years Programme, DYPIS offer a Middle Years curriculum that fuses a proactive use of information technology and inquiry-based learning with the development of the essential skills required to successfully complete the robust Cambridge approved International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) Programme undertaken in Years 9 and 10.
The DYPIS Lower School curriculum follows the framework of the Cambridge Lower Secondary year Programme. The Lower Secondary Programme is an excellent progression towards IGCSE. This is a 3 years (Grade 6, 7 and 8) combined programme where students develop knowledge, skills, concepts, and attitudes which are relevant, engaging and challenging across subject areas of science, math, English and Global Perceptive from Cambridge Curriculum and History, Geography, Music, Visual Arts and PE from National curriculum.
The course content for the middle grade is based on the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), a programme that was developed by Cambridge University in 1985. The Cambridge IGCSE programme is about teaching students knowledge, understanding and skills:
- Application of knowledge and an understanding of new as well as unknown situations
- Intellectual inquisitiveness
- Flexibility and responsiveness
- Working and communicating in English
- Influencing results
- Cultural awareness
The Cambridge approach encourages children to study a variety of topics and establish connections between different subjects. Cambridge approach helps children to improve their performance by encouraging them to develop creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
